Stability
For a long time, Fluke Calibration’s heat sources were recognized as the world’s most stable. With Metrology Wells, things only get better. Over their entire range, both low-temperature units (Models 9170 and 9171) are stable to ±0.005 °C. It is possible to obtain stability of ±0.03 °C even with the 700 °C unit (Model 9173). Only fluid baths and primary fixed-point devices offer more stability. This degree of performance is just not possible with the “off-the-shelf controllers” that are used by the majority of dry-well manufacturers.

Axial uniformity
The EA-10/13 specification recommends that a zone of maximum temperature uniformity, typically located at the bottom of a well and spanning 40 mm (1.54 in), be included in dry wells. Unlike dry-wells, Metrology Wells offer uniform zones spanning 60 mm (2.36 in) by combining our special electronics with dual-zone management and a deeper well. At 0°C, the vertical gradients in these zones are ±0.02°C, and at 700°C, they are ±0.4°C.
